VOFilter, Bridging Virtual Observatory and Industrial Office Applications
VOFilter is an XML based filter developed by the Chinese Virtual Observatory
project to transform tabular data files from VOTable format into OpenDocument
format. VOTable is an XML format defined for the exchange of tabular data in
the context of the Virtual Observatory (VO). It is the first Proposed
Recommendation defined by International Virtual Observatory Alliance, and has
obtained wide support from both the VO community and many Astronomy projects.
OpenOffice.org is a mature, open source, front office applications suite with
the advantage of native support of industrial standard OpenDocument XML file
format. Using the VOFilter, VOTable files can be loaded in OpenOffice.org Calc,
a spreadsheet application, and then displayed and analyzed as other spreadsheet
files. Here, the VOFilter acts as a connector, bridging the coming VO with
current industrial office applications. Virtual Observatory and technical
background of the VOFilter are introduced. Its workflow, installation and usage
are presented. Existing problems and limitations are also discussed together
with the future development plans.Comment: Accepted for publication in ChJAA (9 pages, 2 figures, 185KB
EDITH - experimental in-torus maintenance system for fusion reactors. Final report
Design update, thermal and fluid dynamic analyses of the EU-HCPB TBM in vertical arrangement
In the frame of the activities of the EU Breeder Blanket Programme and of the Test Blanket Working Group of ITER, the Helium Cooled Pebble Bed Test Blanket Module (HCPB TBM) is developed in Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe (FZK) to investigate DEMO relevant concepts for blanket modules. The three main functions of a blanket module (removing heat, breeding tritium and shielding sensitive components from radiation) will be tested in ITER using a series of four TBMs, which are irradiated successively during different test campaigns. Each HCPB TBM will be installed, with a vertical orientation, into the vacuum vessel connected to one equatorial port. As the studies performed up to 2006 in FZK concerned a horizontal orientation of the HCPB TBM. a global review of the design is necessary to match with the new ITER specifications. A preliminary version of the new vertical design is proposed extrapolating the neutronic analysis performed for the horizontal HCPB TBM. An overview of the new HCPB TBM vertical designs, as well as the preliminary thermal and fluid dynamic analyses performed for the validation of the design, are presented in this paper. A critical review of the results obtained allows us, in the conclusion, to prepare a plan for the future detailed analyses of the vertical HCPB TBM
New modular concept for the helium cooled pebble bed test blanket module for ITER
Starting from the latest European design of the HCPB blanket for the DEMO a test blanket module for ITER has been deduced. The paper describes the new design and presents the rational of the design choices and the results of the performance analyses. The proposed design achieves the requirements imposed by the ITER loading conditions, and fulfils the additional requirements (i.e. temperature in helium and materials) necessary to perform the testing of the component in ITER
